Mary's Day

(Mary singing 'Happy Birthday' to her cousin)

Today was a good day. :) We like good days. Mary had her best friend spend the night last night. They had a lot of fun playing dolls and watching Fuller House. I am so thankful for the innocent hearts and minds that my daughters still have. In today's world, that's usually not the case so much by 10 and 11 years old. I know quite a few other kids those ages that that is the case for, unfortunately. So watching my 10 year old sitting on the floor with her friend and her dolls, playing and using her imagination, is a wonderful blessing!

This morning we had our first healthy breakfast. Scrambled egg whites with vegan cheddar cheese, turkey bacon and watermelon. I didn't think it would be as big a hit as it was, but they all loved it. We kind of blew it later in the day, but I'll get to that in a second...

We thought we had two birthday parties to go to today. One at 2pm here in our town and another at 5pm an hour or so away. So after breakfast we got ready and set out to go to the parties. We got caught in traffic that kept us held up for an hour! Then we found out that we only had the 5pm party, the 2pm party is tomorrow.

So we headed to Newnan. It took us 2 hours to get there. But we got to drive through some really beautiful places. Fayetteville and Peachtree City are amazing! Especially Peachtree City. It's such a great place.

We were all starving, as it had been many hours since breakfast by this point, so we took a few dollars and bought McDonald's. I can not even begin to tell you the horrible, horrible feelings of guilt that came along with that meal. But it's done and now we move on to better, healthier meals. It may sound ridiculous to feel that way over food, but with all the things that we know about fast food and health conditions, I can't feel good about feeding my kids that crap, especially with all that's going on with them right now.
I really wish we had thought to pack a lunch. We will in the future.

So we fell off of the diet there, and then we each had a cupcake at the party....*eye roll* How do you do birthday parties and keep away from the sweets when you are trying to eat a certain way and your kids are seeing cupcakes? And you want the darn thing too! Uggh! We have to figure this out so we can still go to parties but not completely throw off our diet every time. (Suggestions would be fantastic!)

Mary got to play with her sisters and cousins at the park during the party. I could see her limping a little when she walked down to the pavilion we were all in, but she wanted so badly to have fun and be with her family and just have a normal day of playing like every one else. So she pushed herself to do it, taking little breaks to come sit down for a few minutes and then head out again.

When we got to the truck an hour and a half later, she said, "I know I'm going to pay for it later, but it was so worth it!" She had a great time! :) <3

By bedtime, she was already feeling the pain in her hip. She asked for her pain medicine and just tried to baby her hip a little.

The new pain medicine is exactly what she needed. It helps so much with the pain and it helps her sleep through the night. It actually only takes about 10 minutes to knock her out. She's like me, a very low tolerance for meds.

I'm hoping she won't need the wheelchair tomorrow, but I'm thinking she may just ask for it due to her hip hurting tonight. We shall see.
